The jaguar (Panthera onca) is a large felid species and the only extant member of the genus Panthera native to the Americas. The jaguar's present range extends from Southwestern United States and Mexico in North America, across much of Central America, and south to Paraguay and northern Argentina in South America.

Facts[]

  • Jaguars have black spots, not pink spots nor no spots at all.
  • Jaguars make growling sounds, not clucking sounds like chickens.
  • Jaguars can jump, climb, and swim. They cannot tap dance, fly (due to gravity and they have no wings), play hopscotch, or skip rope.
  • Jaguars live in rainforests, not in igloos because they're too cold.
  • Jaguars have claws, not flippers like most marine animals.
  • Jaguars make footprints that have four toes, not two toes.
  • Jaguars eat meat, not grass because they're carnivores.
